  • 18-Page Prayer Journal (PDF)

We have created prayer journals based on a popular prayer method called Lectio Divina for each scripture. Plus, you'll get a prayer tracker to color in as you spend time with God.

Our prayer journals are created so that you can either print them off or type directly into them if you want to save on printer ink.

The scriptures for this theme are based upon the Navigators' Topical Memory System:

  • “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans‬ ‭3:23‬ ‭
  • “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭
  • “But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans‬ ‭5:8‬
  • “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.” Ephesians‬ ‭2:8-9
  • “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.” Revelation‬ ‭3:20‬
  • “Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭

  • A 30-page Lettering Practice Sheet Workbook (PDF)

In addition to coloring, we also wanted to provide an opportunity for you to letter each of our theme verses. This is another way you can hide God’s Word in your heart (Psalm 119:11) and meditate on Scripture day and night (Psalm 1:2).

Lettering is similar to traditional calligraphy but doesn’t have all the strict rules. I use brush lettering with a modern style.

In the member area each month you will find the following for each coloring page design:

  • Lettering practice sheets you can use with small brush pens.
  • Lettering practice sheets you can use with large brush pens.
  • The coloring page with the lettering in gray to trace over.
  • The coloring page without the lettering. This allows you to practice the lettering on your own. You can use different translations of the Scripture and also create your own designs. So fun!

Below you will see one example of what our lettering practice sheets will look like for one design. You will get these 4 pages for each of the 7 coloring pages in this package (the theme and 4 scriptures).

The Theme:
Bridge To Life

Do you want to be filled with life? Real, sustaining life?

Jesus is the bridge to finding eternal life. Without Him, it is as if we are standing on one side of the Grand Canyon. Someone is trying to kill us and we need to get to the other side to safety. As we evaluate our options, we see that It's too far to jump and there is no way in our own strength we can make it. We will soon die if we don't escape. However, imagine a bridge suddenly appearing that spans the Grand Canyon. Jesus is that bridge.

He is your bridge to eternal life!

Navigators' Topical Memory System

Have you heard of the Navigators'Topical Memory System? I have been using it for years.

“If you want to memorize Scripture but aren’t sure what to memorize or how, this system is the perfect launch point to begin hiding God’s Word in your heart. It’s simple and easy-to-use - and will help you memorize key verses that point to basic truths and important instruction.” Learn more here: https://www.navigators.org/resource/topical-memory-system

Corrie ten Boom shares in her book, Tramp for the Lord, in chapter 20 that she used the Navigators system to memorize Scripture. Then she proceeded to share this story.

As the coolie paddled our canoe down the river, my Indian companion told me of the great longing in his heart to win souls for Jesus Christ.

“Yet I am not successful,” he said. “I always give my testimony, but I am not able to persuade people to make a decision.”

“Do you use the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God?” I asked him.

“I fear I am not very adept at handling that Sword,” he admitted. “Just at the critical moment I am never able to find a text that fits the situation.”

“Yes, I can understand that,” I confessed. “I sometimes have the same problem. However, I am now memorizing certain verses of Scripture which I call my First Aid Course. These are emergency Scriptures which I apply to the wound until I can look up the rest of the Scriptures which will bring further healing.”

God gave me the idea to use the same Scriptures that the Navigators include in their memory system and create coloring pages.

This is a non-threatening way to share the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, with your family, friends, neighbors, etc.

Plus, it’s a great way to memorize Scripture as you color, letter, and go through the prayer journals.

You can also use these verses as a First Aid kit when you’re sharing your faith with others.

My challenge to you is to print at least two copies of these pages and invite at least one other person to your home for a time of creativity and color. Color together, practice brush lettering, and/or use the prayer journals together.

What could happen if we all reach out to one person with the gospel?

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” - Edmund Burke

In these uncertain and difficult times, let’s do something. Let’s share the light of Christ far and wide.

Are you in? If so, contact us and let us know!

Do you:

  • Want to be closer to God, but find it hard to find the time to pray?
  • Struggle with thoughts of worry, fear or anxiety about the future?
  • Want a way to unwind that is more productive than scrolling on social media or binging on Netflix?
  • Desire more quality time with your kids, family or friends?

Does any of that sound like you?  If so, these free resources can help.

The Surprising Benefits of Coloring

A cognitive neuroscientist, Stan Rodaki, used an EEG (electroencephalography) to measure the impact of coloring on our brains. He had participants color for five minutes and said, "Just forget about everything else and concentrate only on your coloring."

He found amazing results. The participants not only subjectively reported feeling better but he was able to objectively show the difference it made in their brains.

We can actually control the part of our brain that affects our feelings and mood. This realization is now reinforced by science.

We can start the journey of rewriting our brains through coloring as well as renewing our minds with God's Word.

Here are some ways you can benefit from a Living Colors membership:

  • Discover how the Bible comes alive as you color and reflect on God's Word. Coloring can help Scripture move from your head to your heart and into the deeper part of your soul. This will help you connect with the Prince of Peace.
  • Coloring can help relieve your stress. It allows you to slow down and breathe. When you are feeling anxious, just begin coloring and meditating on a verse that is speaking to you that day, and you will find a sense of peace come over you. It will be the perfect way to unwind; your own anti-stress therapy!
  • You will get a theme and purpose with each coloring design. They are simple and can be finished in a short amount of time. No artistic skills are needed, so you won't feel overwhelmed.
  • Color, frame or give them away. Try framing and displaying your favorite coloring page for a daily reminder, while keeping the others in a 3-ring binder. Also, consider giving some away as gifts or repurposing them as wrapping paper.
  • Use your coloring pages in multiple ways. Each design comes in a variety of sizes and you can print them as many times as you want. If you mess up, print another one. You can even color them on your iPad or iPhone using the Procreate app.
  • Coloring is a great activity for anyone at any age. You can use the coloring pages with your kids, in a Bible study, with your Sunday school or homeschool class, during family gatherings and devotions, at birthday parties, as a nursing-home activity, and more. What a great way to encourage adults and children to move away from their screens, as they hide God's Word in their hearts.

Practical Ways People Are Using Coloring

  • Counselors

“As a counselor working with teens, I keep coloring pages on hand for our sessions together. I have found that coloring is a calming activity that is helpful as they verbalize their thoughts and feelings.” Stacey

  • Doctors

“Many doctors now have coloring pages in their waiting rooms. When I was getting my latest mammogram, my nurse told me they find patients seem to be less stressed if they color for a few minutes before the test. I’ve had a lot of mammograms and that was by far my favorite one.” Saundra Dalton
  • Family visiting hospitals

“Coloring is a powerful form of meditation. I personally found this to be true when my dad was in hospital for five weeks. During my visits I would bring my colored pencils and coloring book to pass the time while keeping dad company. The stress and immense sadness of seeing my dad fragile with terminal cancer would briefly leave my mind while I colored the picture and immersed myself into creating something beautiful.” - Fran

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I get more coloring pages, lettering practice sheets and prayer journals like these?

When you sign up for Living Colors today, you will get access to a new theme. Each month we create a package based on 4 Scriptures.

Do I need any special software?

To download and print the coloring pages, prayer journals and bonus material, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. It’s a free software program available here. You can find common solutions to printing problems here. If you don’t see the print option on your computer, see this video here.

Can I print the coloring pages on something other than regular copy paper?

Yes! Depending on your printer, you may be able to print on a slightly heavier paper. You may also be able to feed a thicker paper through the back of your printer. The paper I use with my printer is Cardstock Paper, 67lb Vellum Bristol and it feeds through my printer without any issue. I use this paper with colored pencils. You can purchase it on Amazon here (this is my affiliate link).

I don’t have a printer. Can I still use your coloring pages?

Yes! You can have the pages printed each month at a local printer like Staples, FedEx or UPS. We have also created our prayer journals as interactive PDF's which means you can type into them and then save them to your computer. We recommend that you open the PDF on your computer and not on an internet browser as it doesn’t seem to save correctly from an internet browser.

Can I color digitally on my iPad or iPhone?

Absolutely! You can color the pages on an iPad or iPhone using the Procreate app. In the member area, we have provided a JPG version of each coloring page so you can easily import them into the app.

See a tutorial on how to import the photo here and how to color it in Procreate here.

What colored pencils do you recommend?

You can use any pencils or markers you have available. You can purchase Crayola colored pencils very cheaply at any store or on Amazon here. If you want a higher quality colored pencil that’s also easier on your hands, I recommend Castle Art Supplies which comes with 72 colors and a case or if you're ready to make a big investment, Prismacolor with 150 colors is known to be the best (affiliate links).

Do you have print coloring books I can purchase?

We don’t have any print coloring books currently available but that is in the plans for the future so stay tuned!

Can I use your coloring pages with Bible journaling?

Yes! The 5x7 inch size can be used as a “tip-in.” See a tutorial here.

What paper should I use to print the lettering worksheets?

Most pens require smooth paper so they won't fray. The paper I use for printing lettering worksheets is HP premium paper. It’s smooth and yet can be used in a printer. You can also use tracing paper.

Tracing paper: https://amzn.to/2PpLTnQ

What brush lettering pens do you recommend?

We give you a beginner's guide to brush lettering as well as our recommendations for pens in the member area.

However, you can find the pens I recommend for beginners here.

Do you have any copyright restrictions?

The files you receive each month as part of your Living Colors membership are for personal use only. This means you can print them off and use them for yourself and any groups or classes you lead as many times as you want. If you give the coloring page to someone in a group, they will need to join Living Colors to make additional copies for themselves and others.

You cannot sell the files or sell prints made from them. The artist, Shelley Hitz owns and retains all rights to the artwork.
